Jim is an international executive with more than 30 years of experience in leadership roles including Managing Director, President, Executive Vice President, COO, CFO and Board Member in both private and public companies. He has led companies in 15 countries, lived and worked in Canada, the U.S., Spain and The Netherlands, managing multiple cultures, languages and business practices while driving business performance improvement. Jim’s collaborative and thoughtful leadership that begins with listening to the team before devising an action plan allowed him to successfully lead in diverse environments.
Jim is a big picture leader who has excels at formulating a strategic view of businesses, developing tactical and operational plans, then executing action plans with specific metrics and reward structures, holding people accountable for delivering against measurable objectives. In Europe as the leader of a 100M+ euro business, Jim inherited declining sales and distribution organizations struggling to maintain profitability. He created a re-aligned collaborative organization structure, introduced a market driven pricing strategy with supportive transfer pricing, implemented systems, processes and rewards throughout Europe producing revenue growth of 6-8% annually, profitability throughout the group while reducing working capital requirements by more than 20%.
As a co-owner of a corrugated packaging manufacturing business, Jim understands all facets of business from formation, startup, operation, continuous improvement and ultimately the exit. In this role as owner, Director, CFO and COO, he created the business plan, sourced debt & equity financing, managed construction and installation of equipment, led plant wide systems integration and managed the manufacturing startup. Jim’s superb technical skills in planning, analysis, forecasting and financial modeling combined with excellent negotiation skills, leadership style and strong decision making enabled the company to grow to over $125mm in just 2 years.

Jim has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia in Accounting & MIS and obtained a Certified General Accountant degree in 1986 (currently inactive). He is an avid single digit handicap golfer, a hockey player, former mountain climber and an outdoor enthusiast having grown up in the north of British Columbia on a small farm. Jim and his long-time partner Angeline, an artist and a writer, love the arts including theater, symphony, sculpture and particularly Impressionist painting.
